New Order are an English rock group formed in 1980 by Bernard Sumner (vocals, guitars, synthesizers), Peter Hook (bass, backing vocals, electronic drums) and Stephen Morris (drums, synthesizers). 

The band was formed in the wake of the demise of their previous band, Joy Division.

The band was formed in 1980 by Sumner (vocals, guitars, keyboards and synthesisers),Peter Hook (bass, vocals, keyboards and synthesisers) and Morris (drums, electronic drums, keyboards and synthesisers) – the remaining members of Joy Division, following the suicide of vocalist Ian Curtis – with the addition of Gilbert (keyboards, synthesisers and guitars).
